The new potatoes are a treat! Planted in October to be ready for Christmas when I make the beloved-by-many fry up of chorizo, red onions, new spuds and tomatoes. Also try this tapas of salt crusted baby potatoes with herby dipping salsa. Potato salads of course – here is the recipe for one with mayo stirred through and another which we ate on Stromboli and so is called Strombolani potato salad.
I usually plant one row, or the equivalent, of an early variety which lasts from Christmas right through January. This year it was Cliffs Kidney and we have been enjoying them more than the usual Jersey Bennes – and they seem to be way more prolific. We are currently halfway through this potato patch.
